We Perform Austin ECAD Audits for Residential, Multi-Family & Commercial Clients
The Austin Energy Conservation Audit & Disclosure (ECAD) is unique to electricity users in Austin. If you are buying or selling a home, own a multi-family complex (apartments or four-plexes), or own a commercial business, you’re required to have an Austin ECAD audit. Our Energy Auditors will come out to the property, perform all the necessary tests and submit the required paperwork to the City of Austin. The ECAD is designed to inform new homeowners about the home’s energy “condition” & shares information regarding any energy efficient modifications that are recommended for the home. Similarly, knowing the energy “condition” (and its utility usage patterns) of the apartment complex you might lease, can help you make an informed decision on what your monthly power bills may be. Our auditors are also knowledgeable about audits that may be required for commercial buildings.

Visual Audits (Basics Only)
A Visual Audit includes taking a visual impression of the building from the outside first, followed by the inside in order to learn about:
- The building’s orientation
- What windows get direct sun
- The ducts and ensuring they are in good shape
- The insulation and ensuring it is up to recommended levels.
The program that uses this type of audit is the Austin Home Performance Program. A-Plus Air Conditioning & Home Solutions was a pioneer contractor when the program began in 1971, and we continue to be one of the most qualified and certified contractors in the Central Texas region.
Comprehensive Energy Audits (Testing Included)
Are you the type of homeowner who likes recommendations based on testing and numbers? We are certified and qualified to use the “blower door” to test for home air leaks and how much leakage there is. We can also test your ducts for air leakage using our duct blaster. Lastly, we can make sure there is proper airflow in each room using an air-balancing hood. We can use all these tools to help determine and quantify what is necessary to improve your homes performance. In addition, if you are replacing your existing heating and cooling system, we can use a manual J to determine the proper size of a replacement air conditioner. The fees to perform these services are reasonable and the results can better inform you regarding how to invest your money.
Third Party Contractor Testing
This is another unique Austin, TX program. When someone builds a new home or remodels an existing home, the city of Austin requires a contractor who did not participate in the installation of the new heating and cooling system to independently test the duct system for air leakage and perform room-by-room air balancing. A-Plus Air Conditioning & Home Solutions is proud to be part of this program as an approved contractor for conducting third-party inspections.
